How to apply

Admissions

Sherford Vale School and Nursery is an educational setting at the heart of the community of Sherford to the east of Plymouth. Sherford Vale is part of Westcountry Schools Trust.

The published admission number for Foundation is 30, there are 30 places available, although we are currently a 1 form entry, additional places will be made available in Foundation in September 2024,  as the new community and Sherford grows.

For admission at the start of the Foundation year, parents of children living in Devon (not Plymouth or Torbay) should apply to Devon County Council, likewise if the children live in the Plymouth City Council area they should apply to Plymouth.

Applications for starting primary school in September 2024 open on 15 November 2023 and close on 15 January 2024. You can apply after this, but your application may be considered after all on-time applications.

The date that all allocations of school places are announced in England is known as ‘Offer day’. For September 2024 primary school starters this will be on 16 April 2024.

Applications for in-year admission can be made at anytime.  We would strongly encourage you to apply as soon as possible.

Transfer onwards to Secondary education

Sherford Vale School is a feeder school for Ivybridge Community College so our Year 6 children have priority for secondary transfer admission. If you live in Sherford, and pay your council taxes to South Hams District Council, you will be eligible for free transport to Ivybridge Community College. (This is supported for Sherford residents from monies provided by the building developers.)

Applications for secondary school transfer are made to the Local Authority where a child lives.
