Our First Term

'WHAT A FANTASTIC FIRST TERM'!

Wow!!!

The time since we opened the doors on 5th September until now has flown by. We have achieved so much together, working to provide a great school for the children and community. Thank you to everyone for your enthusiasm, support, kind words and patience. There is so much more to do, but we are well and truly on our journey to outstanding.

I am delighted that the process of recruiting a new teacher to work alongside Miss Ramsey is now underway for a January start. This class is presently full and we have a waiting list for places. Our good reputation is building and parents are now looking for places for entry to school in 2019. Please let friends know about our admission tours.

Your children are wonderful and credit to you. They have settled into school life well and are working hard and well as making new friends.

There have been visitors to the school to enhance the curriculum and many children have competed in sports events representing our school with pride. Our Harvest Festival was a joy, although I apologise that we didn’t invite parents on this occasion, there will be opportunities in the near future. Thank you for the harvest gifts kindly donated.

I would also like to thank every member of staff who has worked tirelessly to ensure our school has got off to a flying start.

It is fantastic to see the “Friends of Sherford Vale School” establishing themselves and organising events for children and parents as well as raising additional funds for the extras. Thank you.

Next half term classes begin their new topics.

Hedgehogs will be studying Muck, Mess and Mixtures, whilst KS2 will embark on their topic of Space. Remembrance Day will be commemorated and Christmas celebrated. A three-week swimming block for all children will take place from the week beginning 17th November taking place at the Life Centre in Plymouth.

There is so much to look forward to and I look forward to welcoming you to our parents evenings after half term.

I wish you all a happy, healthy holiday with your families and look forward to welcoming you back to school on Monday 29th October.

Best wishes

Mrs Tipping
