Sherford Vale School is a member of the Westcountry Schools Trust which is responsible for the admissions policies and decisions on applications for admission to our Nursery and the main Academy.
Our admission arrangements comply with the School Admissions Code and School Admissions Appeals Code.
There is space for 27 children in each Nursery session and there are 30 places available in Foundation. For the main school, children are offered places to start in Foundation at the beginning of the September term after their fourth birthday. Children who are admitted to a vacancy at any time after this point are called 'In-Year' Admissions.
You can find our admissions policies below - we review the school policy annually and may make changes if we feel this would be in the best interests of the school and our community.
If you are interested in your child attending Sherford Vale School, you are welcome to come in and visit us. You can arrange a visit on 01752 891795 or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org
If you decide you would like a place in our Nursery, in Foundation, or at any other time, you must apply.

If we are unable to offer you a place when you have applied, there is a right of appeal to a body that is independent of the school. Further information about the appeals process can be found on the Devon County Council website.
Appeals at the normal round of admissions to Foundation for September 2020 will be heard within 40 school days of the deadline for lodging appeals on 29 May 2020. Where the application was not made in time for a decision to be made on 16 April 2020, they will be heard within that 40 day period or, if that is not possible, within 30 days of the appeal being lodged. In-year admission appeals must be heard within 30 school days of the appeal being lodged.
There is a different admissions policy for each academic year. We will publish a proposed policy for 2021-22 here from 1 November 2019 until 3 January 2020 for consultation. Comments and suggestions are invited for our Proposed 2021-22 admissions policy. For further information about the annual admissions and transport policy consultation and responding, please go to Devon County Council consultation webpages.
A final policy will be determined by the academy trust in February 2020 and will be published here by 15 March
