Welcome to Ducklings Class. Ducklings are children aged 2, 3 and 4 years old.
Ducklings are taught by Miss Menyena (Nursery Manager), Miss Garden and Mrs Wright
We aim to provide a high-quality EYFS education which gives children a secure and confident start to their nursery education. We are committed to nurturing a lifelong love of learning alongside the aims of the EYFS Statutory framework. We consider the development of the whole child and seek to foster resilience and independence. We aim to provide the essential knowledge that children need to prepare them for their future success and to give them the best possible start to their early education.
The classroom consists of an indoor and outdoor area, with a variety of free choice provisions for the children to access. The children are supported in a balance of adult-led and child-initiated experiences with free flow access to outdoor learning and provision. We plan for exciting learning opportunities each day as well as responding to unplanned themes or topics that interest the children. Our planning focuses on the children's needs, interests and stages of development, embedding the EYFS curriculum in an exciting and age appropriate way.
There are three prime areas of learning:
Personal, Social and Emotional Development Physical Development Personal, Social and Emotional Development
There are four specific areas of learning:
Literacy Maths Understanding the World Expressive Arts and Design
We value the contribution that our parents and carers make to their child's learning and give them online access to Tapestry. The children's achievements and 'Wow' moments will be shared with parents via this learning journal and we encourage all parents to add observations from home so that we can gain a wider view of their child and celebrate their achievements.
Ducklings regularly take part in forest school activities. We use the rope bus while walking through the school grounds. During a Forest School session the children learn about the natural environment and how to look after the world around them. They use natural resources to create their art work. We also have access to a secure, large school field where the children can run freely while exploring their surroundings and take part in physical activities.
Ducklings participate in PE on a Wednesday and Thursday morning. This will either be in the school hall, the field or the Muga which is situated within the school playground. We ask for the children to wear suitable clothing and trainers.
Our topic for this term is 'All About Me''. We will be learning about ourselves, what makes us unique and individual. We will discuss our families and pets, relatives and friends, learn about our bodies and what keeps us healthy. We will also think about our community, along with occupations and the people who help us.
