Ducklings (Nursery)

Welcome to Ducklings Class. Ducklings are children aged 3 and 4 years old.

Ducklings is taught by Mrs L  Lancaster, Mrs Holgate and Mrs Farmer.

The classroom consists of an indoor and outdoor area. These areas are set up in a way which will encourage children to experiment, develop and progress in the following areas:

  • Personal, social and emotional development
  • Communication and language
  • Physical development (gross and fine motor)
  • Literacy
  • Mathematics
  • Understanding of the world
  • Expressive arts and design

We regularly use the school field to take part in Forest School. We use the rope bus while walking through the school grounds. During a Forest School session the children learn about the natural environment and how to look after the world around them. They use natural resources to create their art work.

Ducklings will be participating in PE on a Wednesday morning. This will be in the main hall where we will be using a variety of apparatus. We ask for the children to wear suitable clothing and trainers. This term Ducklings will be concentrating on balance, agility and co-ordination.

Our theme for this term is 'Magical Me' where we will learn about ourselves and our families. We will discuss our feelings and emotions, what makes us feel happy, sad, angry and scared and how to deal with these. We will look at what makes us who we are and how we are all different and unique.

Exploration, experimentation and play are encouraged in Ducklings and we aim to provide an environment where children are confident to be independent, take risks and develop their social skills.
