Ducklings (Nursery)

Welcome to Ducklings Class. Ducklings are children aged 3 and 4 years old.

Ducklings is taught by Mrs L  Lancaster, Mrs Holgate and Mrs Farmer.

The classroom consists of an indoor and outdoor area. These areas are set up in a way which will encourage children to experiment, develop and progress in the following areas:

  • Personal, social and emotional development
  • Communication and language
  • Physical development (gross and fine motor)
  • Literacy
  • Mathematics
  • Understanding of the world
  • Expressive arts and design

We regularly use the school field to take part in Forest School. We use the rope bus while walking through the school grounds. During a Forest School session the children learn about the natural environment and how to look after the world around them. They use natural resources to create their art work.

Ducklings will be participating in PE on a Friday afternoon.. We ask for the children to wear suitable clothing and trainers. This term Ducklings will be participating in Rugby Tots

Our theme for this term is 'Winter Wonderland'. We will be learning about seasonal changes, the differences that we notice in our environment and suitable clothing for the colder months. We will discover dark and light, exploring space and shadows using torches. Ducklings will complete out term with Christmas and lots of craft. During the term we will learn about firework safety, Remembrance Day and celebrate Diwali.

Exploration, experimentation and play are encouraged in Ducklings and we aim to provide an environment where children are confident to be independent, take risks and develop their social skills.
